Social impact PR agency
It was a big year for Impact Relations: it launched, it found its champions, and it's about to get a whole lot bigger.
Following the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, we raised funds and spirits with GoFundMe's largest campaign since its inception. Equity Florida collected upwards of $9M – providing support to the families of the 49 lost, while building roads to ban anti-LGBTQ discrimination and increase Florida's gun policies.
This year we started a new tradition of closing our doors for the day, taking the team to the B Corp Leadership Development (BLD) conference for a wave of inspiration with our local B Corp family.
MERCHANT ADVANCE CAPITAL
You don't need to be a social enterprise to have impact. We helped Merchant Advance Capital use their business as a force for good through the 'Good Cents Loan,' an impact loan that offers low interest rates for initiatives that benefit society or the environment.
BEST FOR THE WORLD
B Lab (the parent organization of B Corp) ranked Yulu (Best in the World) of top businesses for workers.
SOCIAL GOOD SUMMIT
Our founder and managing director traveled to NYC for Mashable's Social Good Summit. Read about what Joe Biden said that brought them (and everyone else) to tears talking about the Obama Administration's $1 billion Cancer Moonshot initiative.
San Franciscans redefine their city by taking on the homelessness crisis with the trademarks of the SF culture: innovation and activism. We helped #LetsGetStreetSmart gain maximum leverage outside the film festival circuit.
VANCOUVER DIVISION OF FAMILY PRACTICE
Yulu worked with the Vancouver Division of Family Practice (an organization that brings agency, structure and tools to local doctors) to create a campaign that highlighted the clear value they have on family doctors and their patients.
The Rennie Collection at Wing Sang is home to one of Canada's largest contemporary artwork collections with a focus on social injustice. The team is always impacted by our quarterly visits, which leave us rethinking the true meaning of equality and identity.
Yulu hosted B Social for the second year running. Our fellow BC B Corps joined us for an evening under the stars to talk all things impact on our rooftop patio.
B Corps wouldn't settle for a partial repeal of the HB2 'bathroom bill.' We took it to the media and helped them win an even bigger battle.
SoundCloud sees the importance in assuring artists are paid the way they deserve, and so do we. Yulu collaborated with the largest audio and music streaming service in the world to publicize its Canadian launch.
B CORP CHAMPIONS RETREAT
We attended this year’s B Corp Champions Retreat in Philadelphia and chose our metrics for the Inclusion Challenge, which focuses on figuring out the means to achieve an inclusive economy.

The achievements and tireless work of family doctors can often fly under the radar. Yulu had the privilege of working with Providence Health Care's family doctors over the last year so we know how important and impactful their diverse roles are in our community.
LUCKY IRON FISH
We've always admired the work of fellow B Corp Lucky Iron Fish, and were honoured to help them put a fish in every pot -- both in the developed and developing worlds -- this holiday season.

We're proud to have worked with Vancouver Street Soccer League -- a volunteer-run organization which reaches out to individuals who have been homeless, are currently homeless, or are at risk of homelessness.
World Housing launched their Legacy Community project and we helped spread the word about their initiative to help build homes that enable families to live safe, stable lives.

Vesak hosted an event for World Peace to celebrate Buddha's birthday. We launched a campaign called 'Did you know you're a Buddhist?' and hit the streets of Gastown surveying Vancouverites to find out if they are Closet Buddhists.
Yulu garnered top-tier local and industry media coverage and awareness for Music Heals’ 2nd annual Strike a Chord: A Benefit for Music Heals.
Yulu joined David Suzuki and ecological economist Peter Victor for a night of intellectual discussion on how the economy and environment must and do work in tandem. We're pleased to have played a part in this great event.
Yulu became a certified B Corporation!
Yulu positioned Charitweet's founders as millennial thought leaders in philanthropy, landing media coverage from the most notable publications in business. Together we moved the needle in online charitable giving through something as simple as a retweet.
BIG BRO'S BARBER SHOP
It's important for transgender youth to have role models and reference points to answer questions that the Internet can’t. We’re happy to have lent a helping hand during Big Bro's Barbershop's fundraising campaign to secure a permanent space.

URBAN LAND INSTITUTE
Yulu founder Melissa Orozco sits as communications chair of ULI, an organization dedicated to providing leadership in the responsible use of urban land – creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.
Yulu launched ‘Cuts for a Cause’ in all of Donnelly Group’s Barber & Co barbershop locations. The initiative sought to boost the confidence of men and boys in Vancouver through complimentary barber services.
Yulu helped World Housing, the world's first one-for-one real estate gifting model, land a feature with The New Yorker. For every home sold in the developed world, a home is constructed and gifted to a deserving family living in a developing world landfill community.

CGEP was chosen for Inc. Magazine’s list 25 Most Audacious Companies for their game-changing enterprise model. They take an innovative approach to philanthropy by focusing on offering opportunities rather than charitable handouts to alleviate poverty.
Yulu helped Deepak Chopra and the Chopra Center set the Guinness World Record for for the world’s largest meditation session.
Yulu helped develop an online resource and community called Cancer Positive. We sourced inspiring stories of people whose lives have been touched with cancer, and curated a database of North Americans who have lived ‘cancer positively’.

Yulu was eager to attract media not only to the grand opening and ribbon-cutting event for Joe's Table, but to this social enterprise’s inclusive employment practices.
Streetsmart engaged Yulu PR to build awareness around their concept of doing good while dining out. StreetSmart Canada restaurants invited their guests to donate a dollar (or more) to the project to eliminate hunger in communities across Canada.
Yulu took the creators of Claris Companion, a digital tablet designed specifically for seniors who aren’t comfortable with technology, on a successful East Coast media tour.
Yulu earned 'Best PR campaign of the year' for our media relations work with Fuck Cancer’s international campaign, The Cancer Talk.
Yulu chose CPAWS for the launch of #YuluCares, donating $15K in communications services to spread the word about protecting Canada's wilderness and oceans.
In the first month of launching, Yulu secured Global Mothers national media exposure and developed partnerships with celebrity ambassadors to help mothers in the Global South by providing them with fair trade for their artisan work.
VANCOUVER FARMERS MARKETS
Within the first year of recruiting Yulu for media relations services, Vancouver Farmers Markets reached its highest season turn-out since the market was founded, making waves in Vancouver's 'Eat Local' movement.
Yulu helped Fuck Cancer share its mission of educating today’s youth on early cancer detection, reaching more than 500 million people in one year.
