The Challenge

Globally, over 460 million tonnes of plastic is produced every year, and with less than 9% of plastic waste being recycled, the majority ends up in nature.

Plastic waste not only has a devastating impact on marine life and ocean ecosystems but also on human life. It is estimated that up to 1 million people die from mismanaged plastic waste each year. 

rePurpose Global came to Yulu with a new concept: a platform addressing plastic pollution and providing a revenue stream for marginalized waste workers. 

 

The Strategy 

Yulu conducted a strategic communications process, which involved interviewing rePurpose Global’s ecosystem and compiling an Insights Report. These insights informed the development of a comprehensive narrative, alongside a robust communications strategy, designed to raise awareness of rePurpose Global, the industry it has pioneered to address the plastic pollution crisis, and the people most affected by this issue.

 

The Results & Impact

Yulu represented rePurpose Global for three years, securing coverage in major top-tier publications such as Forbes, Mongabay, Triple Pundit, Fortune, Fast Company, Verdantix, Grazia, and WWD. Alongside these top-tier publications aimed at building brand awareness and industry leadership, Yulu also secured coverage across CPG and trade media that reached rePurpose Global’s customer base and supported its crucial mission to address the global waste crisis.
