Construction & Real Estate Public Relations for IGV Housing

IN BRIEF

For many Canadians, the obstacles to owning a home begin long before a mortgage application: the cost and speed of construction, the capital behind new developments, and the financial barriers facing aspiring buyers. IGV Housing set out to challenge those constraints together, not with a single housing product, but with an integrated model designed to make homes easier to build and possible to own. Yulu's role was to help that ambitious vision make sense beyond IGV's boardroom. We supported the development of a research-led narrative connecting construction, capital and homeownership access, then translated it into executive thought leadership and earned media that could build understanding with developers, municipalities, investors and future homeowners.

THE CHALLENGE — A Housing Mission Bigger Than One Business Category

Canada’s housing challenge cannot be solved simply by building more homes if people still cannot access ownership, and making homeownership attainable is difficult if builders cannot deliver supply with greater certainty. IGV’s ambition is to address these connected barriers through a platform spanning construction, capital and a new pathway to ownership.

IGV’s platform brings together construction innovation through IGVbuild systems, capital solutions through IGVcapital, and a new pathway to homeownership through IGVhope. While each addresses a distinct challenge, the communications opportunity was to connect them under one clear, compelling narrative that demonstrated the strength of the broader platform.

To earn confidence from municipalities, developers, investors, prospective residents and journalists, IGV needed a story that made its mission understandable without overstating what its model had already achieved. The communications challenge was to build credibility for a different way of thinking about housing—grounded in tangible evidence, not simply a bigger claim.

OUR STRATEGY — Make a Complex Housing Platform Human, Clear and Credible

The strongest story was not that IGV had several companies. It was why those companies existed together: to help close the distance between the homes communities need and the homes people can actually own.

Yulu’s interviews with leaders across the IGV platform surfaced the need for a shared language. We collaborated on a narrative anchored in access to homeownership, while explaining how innovative construction and structured capital support that ambition. This gave the work a human starting point and a technical foundation, important for a mission that would be scrutinized by both prospective homeowners and industry decision-makers.

We took a phased approach to building credibility and strengthening IGV’s public profile. First, we grounded its story in tangible local activity, including manufacturing innovation and workforce development on Vancouver Island. In parallel, we equipped IGV’s leadership with clear, consistent messaging to communicate its vision and navigate complex questions. Behind the scenes, we developed the strategic communications foundation for future announcements, ensuring messaging and media opportunities would align with business readiness and verified milestones. This approach allowed us to build visibility and trust while positioning IGV for its next phase of growth.

How We Brought the Mission to Life

1. Give a New Housing Model a Story People Can Understand

IGV’s model crosses disciplines that rarely share one public narrative. Yulu’s leadership interviews and key-voice research helped identify the recurring barriers to understanding it.

Drawing on these insights, we developed a cohesive narrative that connected the different parts of the platform to IGV’s broader mission of improving access to housing. This gave the organization a clearer way to communicate its value to developers, investors, municipalities and prospective homeowners.

2. Turn Technical Expertise Into Public Confidence

A different housing model invites hard questions: How are the homes built? How does the ownership pathway work? What does the capital structure mean for buyers and partners? Yulu developed message frameworks, reactive materials and media training so IGV’s leaders could meet those questions with clearer, more consistent explanations—without turning complex financial or technical promises into slogans.

3. Let Local Proof Lead the National Housing Conversation

Yulu developed proactive media opportunities grounded in tangible activity and timely conversations about housing and construction innovation.

By connecting IGV’s work with broader issues, including regional economic development, construction innovation and workforce opportunities, we created relevant entry points for business, real estate and industry journalists.

This approach supported earned media coverage that brought IGV’s expertise and initiatives into broader conversations about the future of housing in Canada.

4. Creating a Foundation for Long-Term Communications

Alongside proactive media relations, Yulu developed strategic communications materials and planning frameworks to support the organization’s evolving priorities.

This work helped establish a more coordinated approach to messaging, executive visibility, media engagement and future communications initiatives.

By aligning communications activity with business readiness and verifiable milestones, Yulu helped IGV maintain a thoughtful, credible approach to public engagement.

WHY IT MATTERS — Building the Foundation for Long-Term Impact

For organizations working to address complex societal challenges, effective communications cannot begin and end with a major announcement.

It requires a strong understanding of the audiences they need to reach, the questions they must be prepared to answer and the evidence needed to build credibility.

Yulu’s partnership with IGV Housing demonstrates the role strategic communications can play in translating an ambitious business vision into a clear, cohesive narrative while building momentum through targeted media engagement.

By combining research, strategic positioning, executive communications and earned media, Yulu helped establish the communications foundation to support IGV Housing’s next chapter.
