These days almost every company uses social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr. We’d like to pass on a beginner’s how-to guide which will help you set up the most effective social networking tools for your brand.

Follow these four steps and you will be on the road to success!

1. You have to decide what it is you’d like to get out of social media. This is the “define your goals” step. Are you establishing your brand? Looking to generate sales? It is crucial to determine your expectations, so that you can make them a reality.

2. Determine how you will measure the success of your social media plan. Are you getting lots of retweets? Tracking viewership? Are you creating meaningful conversation with your audience? Choose your metrics based on your goals from step one.

3. Establish the routine actions that you will take to help you achieve the goals you’ve set out for yourself. Will you use Facebook? YouTube? LinkedIn? How often will you post? How will you monitor customer satisfaction? Remember that it’s also important to listen and address complaints.

4. Execute your strategy. Don’t worry if it takes time for your plan to play out – these things take time.
