Since childhood, Orna has been known as a ‘talker’. It’s no surprise then, that she ended up working in communications, crafting stories and sharing positive news for a living. Hailing from the rugged and rural west of Ireland, Orna moved to Dublin where she graduated from Dublin City University with an Honors Degree in Journalism and Irish Language. She spent three years after university honing her communications experience with one of the world’s leading technology conferences, developing and promoting events for Web Summit in London, New York and San Francisco.
Never comfortable with the familiar, Orna took a leap into the agency world, where she managed international consumer brand communications across almost every industry imaginable, from sport and technology to food and healthcare, developing a strong network of media and influencers that resulted in regular coverage for all clients. During her time at Teneo PSG, Orna saw first-hand the impact that communications can have in driving positive change, leading both the HIV Ireland and Durex collaborative #WrapUp campaign, and the Pfizer Metastatic Breast Cancer awareness campaign, both of which resulted in national awareness and action.
Ever on the hunt for new experiences, preferably those that lead her to the seaside, Orna moved to Vancouver where she joined Yulu PR, a firm that shares her mission to make a difference through work, and allows her to channel her chattiness. Still a relative newbie to BC, she makes use of the sporadic good weather by exploring the islands around Vancouver. And on those (regular) rainy days and nights, you can find her either trying out new and bizarre exercise classes like disco rowing and sass-class dancing, or tucked up in a bar, preferably one with live music late into the night.
