Director of Corporate Communications
Heather is a communications professional with more than a decade of PR experience. Her career has focused on external communications, including strategy development, media relations, media training, public speaking and reputation management. Recognizing the vital role that reputation management plays in communications, Heather has created and implemented reputation management programs for a wide assortment of industries.
Heather’s interest in current events and passion for using storytelling as a force for good led her to join Yulu. In particular, her interest lies in demonstrating how corporations that have historically been viewed as exclusively profit-driven, sometimes to the detriment of the environment and/or society, can actually become a powerful force for good. She has experience in the following industries: legal, natural resources, banking and finance, infrastructure, real estate and architecture and design.
Prior to joining Yulu, Heather worked at a PR firm focused on media relations and was most recently the Director of Business Development and Marketing at the largest western Canadian headquartered law firm in the country, where she was responsible for overseeing all communications, business development and marketing initiatives. This experience provides her with the experience on both the client and agency side, and an understanding of how the two teams can work together effectively. She also brings experience in executing brand partnerships, including non-profits, arts organizations, and building relationships with referral sources.
Her clients have included TELUS International, 7-Eleven Canada, Ford of Canada, Simon Fraser University, Avigilon, Industry Training Authority, Able Auctions, Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation, BC Assessment, BC PSEA, Bowman Employment Services, Hay Group, Loden Hotel, Tableau Bar Bistro, Coquitlam School District, Simon Fraser University, Theatre Under the Stars, Audain Foundation, Coast Capital Savings, and Reliance Properties.
She has been on the board of directors for the Association of Neighbourhood Houses, the Western Canada Legal Marketing Association and she is currently assisting with a federal political campaign. She is also an instructor in Simon Fraser University’s Public Relations Program.
Outside of work, Heather is passionate about arts and culture (especially ballet), books, politics, and volunteering.
