Cross disciplinary dialogue on land use in British Columbia

 

ULI’s mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. The Urban Land Institute is an independent, nonprofit research and education organization connected to nearly 30,000 members worldwide representing the entire spectrum of the land use and development disciplines.

The Challenge

Urban Land Institute BC (ULI BC) came to Yulu looking to boost local brand awareness. A major issue they faced was communicating a clear distinction between themselves and the Urban Development Institute (UDI).

The Solution

With Melissa sitting on ULI BC’s management board as Chair of Communications, our first move was to define and communicate ULI’s mission: to focus on sustainable planning and smart growth in urban centres. Over the past five years, Yulu has worked to build ULI’s social media presence and website content; create and share ULI BC member spotlight features; and to coordinate media relations for ULI’s highly anticipated events.

The Results

Yulu substantially built out ULI’s social media following and has worked to develop strong relationships with local media, who are now regulars at ULI’s real estate and transportation events. Yulu’s efforts have secured countless local features on ULI members’ achievements, the organization’s reports and findings, and events.
