Donnelly Group owns and operates public houses, cocktail taverns and nightclubs of note in Vancouver.
On the verge of their 15th anniversary in business, Donnelly Group had amassed an empire of successful pubs and nightclubs in Vancouver and was keen to expand into other major Canadian metros. The company also wanted their PR partner to help counter their negative public perception as purveyors of corporate,cookie-cutter pubs.
Yulu built a campaign around Donnelly Group as a local business helping other local businesses, highlighting the company’s local suppliers and its support of farmers markets, surrounding-area farmers, local brewers and distillers. We organized media tours at individual venues to highlight their unique character and menu items. With the continued expansion of the company’s barber shop business, we created a community give-back program in which Big Brothers and their Little Brothers could come and spend time together getting hair cuts in the confidence-building environment at Barber & Co.
Yulu secured features for the pub chain’s expansion plans in the Financial Post’s Entrepreneur section and BC Business, for Barber & Co’s community give-back program on the cover of the Vancouver Sun’s Business section, and multiple features for development chef Alvin Pillay’s locally sourced menus and cooking in The Vancouver Sun, Global BC, Vancity Buzz, Vancouver Province, and City TV. Yulu also secured coverage for Donnelly’s Orphans Christmas Toy Drive on Global BC and the Vancouver Sun.
